Diverse Learning Environments

Infants

The infant classroom is for children from two months of age through to age 1 with a ratio of 1:4 and a maximum group size of 8. It is an inviting, engaging and safe space for very young children. 

  • Teachers give them the opportunity for tummy time and gross motor exploration as they begin to crawl and pull up.

  • Babies have their own individualized schedule and

  • Infant has their own assigned crib.

  • Our teachers are CPR, First Aid and SIDS trained  

  • We have an outside play area specifically designed for babies and toddlers.

Toddlers

The toddler classroom is for children from one to two years of age. The ratio is 1:5 with a maximum group size of 10. The classroom is equipped with age appropriate furnishings, toys and materials.

 

  • Children have free exploration of toys and materials, a twice daily small group circle time, a teacher directed activity and two outdoor play times. 

  • Our outdoor play space is specifically designed for infants and toddlers. 

  • Our teachers are CPR, First Aid and SIDS trained

RSVP

Twos

For children ages 2 to 3. The ratio in this classroom is 1:6 with a maximum group size of 12. The classroom is set up with age appropriate furnishings, toys and materials.

  • Children have free exploration of toys and participate in small and large group activities.

  • Time is set aside daily for children ready to use the potty. 

  • Sensory play is available daily with water, play dough and sand.

  • The outdoor play space is equipped with a sandbox, dramatic play area, gardens, trike track and a slide.

Preschool

This classroom is for children ages 3 to 4. Furnishings, materials and toys are all age appropriate.This classroom has a ratio of 1:8 with a maximum group size of 16.

  • Time is set aside for children learning to use the bathroom.

  • Children follow a schedule that includes active play, small groups, free play, outdoor play, etc.

  • Teachers introduce pre-academic skills including letters and numbers, phonics

  • Sensory play and art is available daily. 

  • Outdoor play area has sand and water tables, a mud pit, a climbing structure, slides and gardens.

Pre-K

This classroom is for children who are 4 to 5 and will be transitioning to kindergarten.The ratio in this classroom is 1:9 with a maximum group size of 18.

  • Classroom is set up in centers and children are encouraged to explore and develop their play.

  • The daily schedule includes free play, small and large group activities, quiet and active play and outdoor play.

  • The teachers focus on developing skills to prepare children for kindergarten, including how to resolve conflicts, how to ask for help, self-help skills, listening skills, following directions, and pre academic skills including letter and number recognition.

  • Outdoor play area has sand and water tables, a mud pit, a climbing structure, slides and gardens.  

School Age

This temporary classroom is for children who are 5-8 years of age who need help facilitating their virtual learning. The group is overseen by a BSAC trained teacher. The maximum group size is 10. 

  • Classroom is set up in centers and separate desks so children can focus on their virtual learning.

  • The daily schedule includes whatever virtual learning classes and meeting the school has set for them, homework help, outside time, free play, and afternoon quiet time. 

  • Outdoor play area has sand and water tables, a mud pit, a climbing structure, slides and gardens.
